Interesting article Glenn. My wife drives a Toyota Prius, and it has the type of display they’re talking about. I often wondered how using those displays is any different than texting on a smart phone, the hazards of which are well documented. And that display also includes “moving parts” … simple animations showing the flow of energy between various components in the vehicle. Not much different than watching a movie. And you can do that in your car these days too.
As if those new “electronic billboards” with rotating content weren’t already enough of a distraction to drivers.
Of course, once we have cars that “drive themselves” this will all be a moot point. 🙂
