Mr. Romney says just now in his speech:
'Ann would have succeeded at anything she wanted to'
It would've been a whole lot better with 'anything else,' as surely it would've been if it were Mr. Obama who said it.

Yes, I think that is a bit "picky." Politicians in general know how to make engaging speeches, but don't always use the language to its best clarity. I rarely waste my time dissecting their words. But hey, at least Romney pronounces nuclear correctly. Unlike our last Republican president.   🙂

As for your specific example, I doubt Ann felt slighted, and imho his intended meaning was obvious.

Just so he won't shut AWWW down- the several sentences along with that one make it abundantly clear how highly he values his wife's works. Still, political operators have been known to pluck statements out of context, and this one is vulnerable.
