That's one answer to can there be some idiom whose fate is tied to the rate of dollar inflation?
Still hanging on to its original 1950ish meaning, if tenuously, it will mean 'trivial matter' some years from now if still used at all.

Well hey, $64,000 is still a good chunk of cash, and will likely remain so unless we experience the kind of hyper-inflation Germany had after the war.

But your comment reminds me of another thread on this forum that discussed terms that have become obsolete due to technological advances. For example, in this digital era, how long can "clockwise" survive with any common meaning? Sure, there are analog clocks still in existence, like Big Ben. Hard to imagine Big Ben ever being replaced with a digital display.

And just the other day, I caught myself using the expression "watching the tube" and realized that, at least for my flat-panel TV, there's absolutely no "tubes" involved.

There's many other examples I'm sure.
