On Saturday Oct. 25, 2008 during the second half of the show (I believe), a caller ask you to help her find a phrase for her to use when she is asked where she lives. She lives in Marin County half the time and stays in San Diego county the other half.
I don't have the exact phrase to use but I can suggest two words that I'm sure can be put to the use she desires, She travels from "FOG to SMOG".

Suggestion: As "transhumance" refers to seasonal migration in the context of livestock care (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transhumance ), and the question arises in the context of grandchildren (closely related to livestock, if I understand correctly), these people could be called "transhumans", more specifically "California transhumans".
Also, reference "orientate": In my military service (27 years), I heard this often from soldiers who acquired much of their literacy in the Army. It's simply the regular verb form created from the noun "orientation". We understand that "orientation" is a noun created from the verb "to orient" (itself created somehow I suppose from "orient" meaning "east"). Try to pronounce "orientshun". Hard. So, for ease of pronunciation we throw in the extra syllable. But soldiers who recognize the pattern of "-ation" and "-ate" from other word just apply it here.

How about Califractured? Those traveling from Crescent City in the North to Imperial Beach in the south could even be said to be SuperCalifractured.
