Some light thoughts on learning a logical language like Finnish

Language, logic and light. As my ex-tutor (now comfortable in a nice rubber room and enjoying a diet of happy pills after a long career trying to teach Finnish to morons like me) repeatedly said, in English, “Finnish is a very logical language,†and how true that is. How comforting to know that while you regard it as mind boggling that the verb To Go alters the suffix on town names Tampere and Joensuu in completely different ways, you can rest assured that somewhere, deep down in the depths of linguistics, there's a logical expression to explain it away.
