Does anyone know why there seems to be a rash of people using "in lieu of" incorrectly? For example: "in lieu of recent events" kind of thing. ( (had to edit post, sorry)

If you mean using it when they should be saying "in light of", it's been going on for years now, and it's only because I'm such a spiritual person that there aren't a lot of people walking around with big slap marks on the backs of their heads.
