For a time I was where we hosted Frenchmen to talk about the computer business. The way some of our guests pronounced 'fonction' as an English word made us go outside to relieve giggles. Our French colleagues knew about the giggles, and still couldn't do much about about it, so both sides eventually settled down accepting it as a mutually shared joke.
